Hailing from Prince George’s County, Vernon Jones II started playing the saxophone at the age of eight. In 2006, he was exposed to jazz music at the University of Maryland’s Summer Youth Music Camp. While there, he took a jazz workshop and instantly fell in love with creating his own original music. While he attended DeMatha Catholic High School, jazz saxophonists Chris Vadala and Antonio Parker mentored him. Vernon also plays the flute, piano and bass guitar in addition to the saxophone.
